Review of Anna Karenina (2012) by Rabih H — 02 Jul 2013
Im not saying it's not a great novel, it no doubt it, a literary masterpiece even. Maybe there's something that doesn't transfer to film? Or maybe the beauty of the book is in it's style, the words, the flow. The film is just...boring.
I tried not to yawn or be distracted throughout this tedious film. The art direction is wonderful, the acting actually quite good and there is a plot that is ok. But boy is this a boring movie. I watched it on a plane in the middle of a long flight with a 300 pound stranger sleeping on my shoulder and it was almost too boring to watch. I'd rather the loud snoring...
Anna Karenina is proof that not all great books make great movies. Actually most make terrible ones...this is one such example.
