Keira Knightly, whom I've always thought of as average, did an amazing job in this tragic Russian tale. The film had so much clever symbolism that I had to watch it back just to take it all in. The set was phenomenal.
If nothing else, watch it for the great cinematography and artistry displayed in the film!
