Review of Animal Crackers (1930) by Joe H — 28 Sep 2009
One of the Marx Brothers' weaker films, "Animal Crackers" works best when it focuses on the brothers' goofy antics, but is overall too stagey and sluggishly paced, and bogged down with too many unnecessary musical numbers and interludes.
Groucho's one-liners are always amusing though, including this classic bit: "One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas I don't know.".
