Review of Angela's Ashes (1999) by Chelsee I — 23 Sep 2008
An excellent movie! 'Angela's Ashes' tells of the bitter struggles (physical and spiritual hunger, alcohol abuse, death, and loneliness) of an Irish family, in the U.S. and Ireland, during the 1940s.
Happier times (first love and family loyalty) are also recalled. The occasional threads of humor are not to be ignored. I found this movie very similar to the book. Mr. McCort is truly a masterful storyteller.
Alan Parker is a skilled director. Exquisite!
