Review of Angel Heart (1987) by Tim J — 22 Dec 2012
Once we realize this is all about the devil and a man who sold his soul but tried to welch on the debt, the movie becomes laughable and we should feel more cheated than the devil. Despite some good performances and excellent visuals, the movie is ridiculous in its premise, requiring us to accept that the devil incarnate takes the form of Robert DeNiro, who at least acts credibly enough to avoid snickering at the nonsense behind this dumb plot.
Rourke and others are convincing enough, but the whole thing bogs down before it reaches the goofy devil finale.
