Review of Angel-A (2005) by James R — 19 Dec 2007
A cinematographic work of art that joins other contemporary black-and-white films that transform the monochrome medium far beyond its origins.
Genre storyline is not exactly daring, but it is charming, heartfelt and personal at moments, sexy, and humorous. On the special effects level, like when the angel sprouted her wings at the end, this film wins (makes John Travolta's character look like a stupid high school production), the way that the angel proved to Andre that she was an angel was perfect in its simplicity, completely in keeping with the movie's overall character.
