Review of Angel-A (2005) by Marie S — 14 Mar 2008
I want to like this film I really do. Luc Besson is a fantastic director and there's much talent in the actors. Paris is filmed beautifully here, looking stunning in the monochrome black and white.
The story begins with an interesting premise, what if your guardian angel wasn't an angel? The characterisation of Angela is fantastic, orginal and the high point of this film. However this film is not interesting.
Very little happens to justify your attention for the duration and it all gets very bizarre in the final 10 minutes, that should really best be forgotten. A fine example of how style cannot prosper over content.
