Review of Angel-A (2005) by Rich B — 25 May 2008
An interesting concept that was hindered by poor execution, IMO. I appreciated the black and white but the brooding atmosphere it created was marred by some seriously unnecessary hokey elements. I would have also appreciated it if Besson had made the audience work a littler harder to figure out who Angela really was, seeing as the title and obvious symbolism (cool shot though) did little to add to the mystery, which I pretty much figured out from the getgo.
The blatant revelatory diner scene seemed a little cheap and easy.
