Review of Angel-A (2005) by Jeremy W — 07 Jul 2008

We should all feel ashamed. I anxiously got online to see where this rated on the movie sites... first IMDB where it scores 6.8... I thought that was low until I got here and saw 43%!?!?!? You guys are kidding right? Let's put this into perspective here.

.. The new Indiana Jones is 77% and this is 43%?!?!?!? You've GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! Indiana took a huge budget and made an unoriginal, uninspired, lack luster follow-up....where Besson here takes actors we don't know.

..shoots it in B&W... asks the lead female to learn french in 6mnths... cranks out a stunningly beautiful film that is both original and exceeds expectations and this is what we get.... 43 freakin percent.

... you've gotta be joking... ANgel-A is no masterpiece....but it does highlight the strengths of its' director, Luc Besson. There's a strong female lead...played to perfection by Rie Rasmussen.

..who is hotter than black leather in 110degree sun... the cinematography, with the help of Thierry Arbogast is unbelievable. You could really enjoy this film with the sound off....HOWEVER...I completely dissagree with many here that the acting and script take away from the movie.

FIRST OF ALL....YOU CAN'T be blamed for yanking ideas from a movie when they're ideas from a movie that THE DIRECTOR DIRECTED...THEY'RE HIS IDEAS.... other director's do this(tarantino,Scorcese,Etc) and they get kudo's for it and then LB gets grief for doing the same thing.

THis film is original, stunning, thought provoking, sad, and inspirational all at the same time.. I'm assuming that the people who rated this around 10-20% are the same one's who rated Fool's GOld at 50%.
