Somewhat slow and very very gradual character development. Lots of agony played out to the nth degree by Colin Firth (his speciality) and shamlessly pulls at the heart strings with obvious cliches. Ultimately though, there seemed to be no new insight into the relationships beyond the usual father-son conflicits.
