Review of An American in Paris (1951) by Amy J — 29 Nov 2008
Gershwin music is great. Oscar Levant is great. Gene Kelly sells as much as he can. Other than that it's a total let down. The Ballet is ok for a ballet but it doesn't seem to fit the movie (as opposed to the one in "Singin' in the Rain" or "Oklahoma") I don't consider it a classic.
