Review of An American Crime (2007) by Weifan C — 14 Mar 2009
Not your every day movie. This film, in my opinion, is the best I have ever seen. It's intense, tragic and heart-rendering, and Ellen Page's exemplary performance does not alleviate the situation.
This film documents the torture and abuse of a sixteen year old girl over the course of three months. A true story, it packs quite a punch. I do not recommend this for the fainthearted. While there is little blood and violence shown (hence it not being a hardcore gorefest) it is gut-wrenching nevertheless.
