Review of An American Crime (2007) by Richard H — 18 Mar 2010
(POSSIBLE VAGUE SPOILERS) I always knew Catherine Keener had this role in her. An exhausting film to watch and the film maker uses a technique late in the film reminiscent of Funny Games which feels a little unfair to the viewer because we feel robbed of any release we might otherwise have.
Instead, just as we feel the noose loosen it's tightened again suddenly. Ellen Page is amazing as always, I especially like her in her less wordy roles like this. Hayley McFarland is a new talent that keeps cropping up everywhere and I'm sure we'll see more of her in the future.
