Review of An American Crime (2007) by Phil S — 21 Mar 2011
Well-acted, though script was a little ordinary, and not well-plotted. I could have used more development and less torture to try to get into why this horrible thing happened and why so many were involved yet failed to take action. I got that Sylvia was tortured by a weak-willed woman, but didn't get why it was "An American Crime". Could this not have happened anywhere else in the world in 1965?
Still, well-filmed, and Catherine Keener was remarkable in a role as innately evil as Louise Fletcher's Nurse Ratchet.
