Review of An Affair to Remember (1957) by K D — 21 Jan 2009
I didn't quite get the "comedy" part of this romantic comedy, but it was nice to see Cary Grant's character "working" at trying to get the girl. The story was nice, but sometimes just seemed slightly tame, and predictable.
The music certainly adds to the film, although I didn't care much for the scenes featuring the children singing... I didn't sign up to watch another "The King and I". I did enjoy the scene where they exit the ship in New York and also Grant's exchange with Kerr when he meets with her for the first time in over a year, and that face he makes when he sees the painting looked very genuine.
Nice film.
