Review of An Affair to Remember (1957) by Aj V — 01 Nov 2010
The dialogue and the leads are charming and witty, but mostly during the cruise segment of the film. It's downhill from there, stretching its length uncomfortably. I was particularly miffed about the way the grandmother's death was handled-- I found it rather superficial-- and their reunion at the end is not quite as poignant as you'd expect it to be.
As for the direction, it's not so much innovative as it is... bothersome.
