Review of Amy (2015) by Amber H — 01 Jul 2015
I saw this at the Grammy Museum screening on June 5th. All I can say is what you think happened to this young woman is not nearly as heart breaking as what did happen. It is a powerful story and even though it is painful to watch at least now there is a context to what happen. The story behind the song Rehab is very powerful. When I listened to the song before, I felt pity that she didn't go. Once I saw what happen, pity turned to fury.
The director was in attendance and took questions from the audience. When asked how he thought the movie will be received he said he wasn't sure but he had met many journalists, who were part of this media frenzy tell him they felt a little bit ashamed of themselves for being a part of it. I can see why her father has distanced himself. He doesn't come off in a good light but it's his words and his actions that you see. I would say more but I don't want to accidentally write any spoilers, yes we know how it ends...but the journey...
