I usually am a big fan of Clint Eastwood, and his previous movies as director were thrilling and alive. For some reason, although this story is fascinating and tragic, the movie has a wooden quality that keeps us at bay.
It felt like flat champagne: all the ingredients are there, but the sparkle is gone.
