Review of American Sniper (2014) by Colton S — 26 Feb 2018
The criticism of this film I find people misunderstanding the whole concept of this movie. It's supposed to portray war and not just another hollywood remake of a "war movie." I think this isn't one of Eastwood's best but really if you think this was made to be fictional then I wonder what film you were actually watching.
The acting and directing portray a film the is very gloomy and hopeless for the main character. That a man can become so obsessed with war that he sidelines everything he truly loves and in the end when he comes back to what truly matters he still loses.
Clint Eastwood gives us a great imagination of the personal and self struggles of war. Bradley Cooper couldn't have played a better role than anyone else and portray the american hero, Chris Kyle.
Only really Eastwood can make these sort of films in such a matter of fact, straight talking fashion. I still found this movie to be a story that needed to be told because it shows us how brutal and crucial war is on the frontlines.
