Review of American Me (1992) by Mark M — 14 Dec 2006
The best true story that includes fictional characters and events that feels like a made-for-TV movie that I've ever seen!
All joking aside, it's a pretty enjoyable watch. Fast paced, it pretty much doesn't bother with details, just constant events. Sometimes, it's refreshing to watch a movie that cuts the bullshit. Still, if I hear "odelay" one more time, I might fucking snap. I'm sure Mexican gangsters truly do say it constantly, but it's absurd. Everything that happens? Odelay. Everything that's said? Odelay. Everything that's anything? Odelay.
Mix it up a little bit, eh fellas? The stabbings are all fantastic, as instead of driving a knife into someone's stomach and looking all menacing as they collapse, these fuckers just repeatedly stab people as many times as they can as they fall to the ground.
Oh, and there's a white guy (William Forsythe) speaking Mexican slang the entire movie. That in itself is brilliant and makes it worth watching. The guy also has terrible teeth. Just dreadful..
