The closest thing I've seen to a Chicano version of "Menace II Society". EJO is good, but party due to the depressing subject matter it get kind of lost in the mix. EJO is much better in "Stand and Deliver" and the subject matter is far more inspiring.
Overall the movie tried hard to be gritty, but EJO isn't John Singleton and it shows. If you're a fan of crime dramas you'll like it otherwise it's questionable.
