Review of American Mary (2013) by Ruby H — 03 Mar 2014
The Soska sisters made a name for themselves with indie hit Dead Hooker in a Trunk which I haven't watched yet and furthered their reputation with this. It stars Katharine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps) and she is the best thing going in this movie.
She is turning into a proper horror icon this girl. Tristan Risk as Beatress is awesome too and these two characters alone are enough to make up for the story's shortcomings, or that it often doesn't make much sense.
It doesn't have to if the ride is fun, even if a bit confused, and it is a great rampage through body-horror, revenge, and the body modification underworld. This is the first Soska sisters film I've watched and I now consider myself a fan.
