Over the top method acting from Bale as usual, Amy Adams just as bad (but a few strong scenes each too). De Niro cameo was knife edge stuff. Cooper was strong (if also occasionally a little OTT- eg, police cell interrogation). Renner was decent. Lawrence's character was entertainingly manipulative .. Bale left her for frizzy Adams .. REALLY? :).
Story itself had highs and lows- the one on one dialog scenes with Bale and Adams were painfully self aware IMO, but actual hustle scenes much more entertaining. De Nero speaking Arabic was probably my highlight- ouch! :D.
