Review of American Graffiti (1973) by Daniel H — 04 Jan 2011
A great time capsule movie of four very different teenagers in California--John the badass with the yellow sports car, Terry the nerd, Ron, the popular guy, and Curt, who's got a scholarship to go to college but wonders if it's better if he stays in town.
Winning performances by all four leads, with strong support from Mackenzie Phillips and Candy Clark. The hot rods and music portrays a time long gone, of hot rods, diners, the hop, and bands wearing suits and neckties.
George Lucas's second film is a winner, as was his third movie, but that's another story, in a galaxy far far away.
