Review of Amen. (2002) by Annabelle G — 09 Jun 2007
I thought it would be a too serious movie. It took me a long time to finally get to rent it.
But no. Of course the period and topics are hard and this is certainly not embellished that much, but it is still entertaining.
Ricardo Fontana (Mathieu Kassovitz, thank you God by the way, this one's a real gift!), is a young idealistic priest who is trying to make the Vatican listen to what an SS officer has to say. He's been creating and selling Zyklon to the nazi and has now realised how they were using it.
They join to make the world know.
The pace is good and the plot really keeps you interested. The actors are perfect.
In short I would say that it is a Costa-Gravas to be seen, not a real classic but certainly a good movie which leaves you thinking...
