Review of Amélie (2001) by Cory L — 02 Nov 2011
I hate romantic movies. They're cheesy, stupid, and riddled with cliche's that every other movie ever made has ripped off. That deffinately is not the case with this movie. This movie allows its characters to breath in their enviornment, rather than rushing through it to get to the 'love at first site' scene. When you meet the characters the movie doesn't just say "look! She's the main character, let's get her laid!", it instead says "Of all the people in the world who loves and wants to be loved, she may be the most deserving, and hears why...".
If you appreciate excellent film making, or if you want a guilt-free love story, this is the movie for you.
