Review of Amélie (2001) by Filmjoy * — 17 Jun 2012
Amélie is the crown jewel of modern french comedies. It' s also infectously optimistic like the title character herself. With enthralling visuals, colorful (sometimes backward) characters and a myriad of subplots the movie never loses site of it's main theme.
I've seen this film multiple times to unravel the mystery of Amélie the savior, the naive love stricken poet, the estranged daughter and the whimsy girl-child unable to grow up. And with each viewing, I feel I could write a separate review of the film.
Amélie is Jean-Pierre Jeunet's gift to the audience, that truly keeps on giving.
