Review of Amarcord (1973) by Chris G — 29 May 2006
I'm not the biggest Fellini fan in the world, but I have to admit to getting sucked into Fellini's fantastic world in Amarcord.
Taking place during 40's Italy, the film follows a group of people in a small Italian town. The film captures a spirit and magic of youth that only Fellini's surreal style can.
The very first DVD Criterion ever released (despite the fact it is #4) is a disappointment. The widescreen imagery deserves to be anamorphically enhanced, and despite the high price range, has no supplements whatsoever. Now discontinued, there is the possibility they are redoing this DVD,and therefore might do it justice.
