Review of Amarcord (1973) by Tim S — 13 Jul 2013
One of my favourite movies. Sad yet colourful and happy recollection of memories (the title in the dialect of Fellini's hometown means "I remember") it's a sequence of tableaux painted by a master.
His memories seen through the eyes of a child are also the memories of all us italians during that period. Some of those memories are uncomfortables, and yet Fellini treats them with the utmost delicacy and intelligence.
This movie is not only a masterpiece, it's an entire collection of masterpieces.
