Review of Alphaville (1965) by Brian I — 04 Jun 2010
I wasn't quite prepared for this one. Sort of a combination of a detective film, a paranoid thriller, and a sci-fi film. Projects the familiar humanity vs. technology theme where in some dystopia a computer runs everything, only to be defeated by love.
Maybe it was cutting edge in the 60's, but the paranoia is a little quaint given what is true (and has always been true) about technology and progress enhancing humanity rather than replacing it.
