Review of Alphaville (1965) by Laimis Z — 27 Feb 2011
Although Alphaville, Jean-Luc Godard's sci fi film noir, is located on a different planet and is governed by logic and room sized computers, residents still drive Citroens and Simcas through streets that look like 1960's Paris.
Ex-pat American, Eddie Constantine (aka Lemmy Caution, secret agent 003, and Ivan Johnson), drives a Ford Mustang, carries a Colt Model 1911A1, and undermines the logic of the state with poetry and love.
It must have been a crappy year for movies because Alphaville won the 1965 Berlin Film Festival Bear award.
