Review of Allegro non troppo (1976) by Lee H — 08 Jun 2007
A Fantasia for adults and totally slams the Disney version not only the movie but Disney's employment practices. Yes the animation isn't as pristine as the Disney but still charming and great in its own right. Includes funny live action shots with an orchestra made up of all old ladies. The music in the film (since I can't seem to find a listing of it anywhere else is as follows:
Debussy: "L'apres-midi d'un faune"- a horny smurf/snoopy hybrid looks at lots of boobs. [Parody of the Beethoven of Fantasia].
Dvorak: Slavonic Dance No. 7 - a parody of blind allegiance and "Keeping up with the Jones" [Parody of the Nutcracker].
Ravel: Bolero - a Dali-esque origins of life sequence beginning with a bottle of coke. [Parodys of Rite of Spring].
Sibelius: Valse triste- poor lonely kitty. Very dark.
Some Vivaldi Oboe Concerto I think it's in C major.- A poor bee's picnic gets ruined by humans.
Stravinsky: Firebird Suite- EVIL KITTIES! A Genesis story. Parody of Night on Bald Mountain.
Ends with a great Beethoven-esque Coda. Freakin' funny stuff.
