Review of Allegiant (2016) by Yikang W — 04 Apr 2016
(2/5) Better than the second movie. But still doesn't me feel enthralled. I think part of the problem is the casting choice of Beatrice "Shailine Woodley.
. She isn't believable as a strong hero that can fight her way through things. She seems timid and way too nice; and here she is running through fields dodging machine gun bullets no problem, flying beige bubbles like it's nothing. It's a bit unreal to be honest. Lets face it Shailine is no Jennifer Lawrence, at least with Jennifer you sympathized for her character. Beatrice's boyfriend Four "Theo James" is better suited in a lead role, more believable. It's unfortunate you really don't care or feel invested in any of the side characters in these movies, one girls gets killed predictably and no one barely does anything, just move on. I think this franchise is aimed towards 12-18 year olds. Not much substance. This 3rd and final movie didn't even have a conclusion, It's still left open for another movie. Anyways the movies are watchable, I wouldn't buy them or watch them again though.
