A Palme d'or has often some interesting stuff to offer. Here we get the point of American Musicals. They can be amazing art, they can be fantastic because they have a point and both the tunes and the little cabaret acts serve it well.
Bob Fosse is the master of that genre, considering he also did 7 years previously to this "Cabaret"...
