Review of All That Jazz (1979) by Vj B — 29 Dec 2010
One of the best musicals I've ever seen, if not the best. The only slight on this picture I can think of is the remnants of the '70s left on some of the music, but it's hardly dated at all--at least not in any distracting way.
This is probably one of the best edited movies I've ever seen, too, because it really turns itself inside out and explores both the structure of film (in general, and in the specific of this film), as well as looking at the subject of the film, which is the director/choreographer himself.
I'd also like to highlight the work of Erzebet Foldi as Michelle, the main character's daughter, who was tremendous in her supporting role. (Sadly, this was her one and only film credit.).
