Review of All That Jazz (1979) by Kim B — 11 Oct 2017
Let me tell you something, I loved the style and camera work of this movie. It reminded me a lot of Terry Gilliam, one of my favorite directors. Extremely entertaining and inventive. I loved, loved, loved every time the movie would segway into the "white" room.
This movie is trippy at times, making you second guess yourself and ask if you really saw what you just did. The writing for this movie is so tight. Very funny at times and cynical, this movie is right up my alley.
The bit with the doctor using the stethoscope and he's smoking, had me rolling. What an original and hilarious idea.
To summarize this movie took me completely by surprise and showed me a side of theater I'd never seen before and it was shown with such grace. This movie is without a doubt a masterpiece of cinema. I want to show it to everyone. It's more than just a musical/drama, so much more, it's a work of art.
