Review of All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) by Irvin C — 11 Aug 2014
It is simply astonishing how well made this film is for when it was made. Only a few short years prior all we had was silent films and exaggerated makeup. This anti-war classic is filled with phenomenal performances, realistic sets and scenes, original and inventive direction, and a heart rending ending.
So stunning it was banned in multiple countries for years. Not merely Best Picture 1930 but a true classic for all time.
