Review of All Eyez on Me (2017) by Moe B — 05 Jul 2017
An extremely sad movie, not in the plot or dialogue sense, but the movie itslef. The story of Tupac Shakur in All Eyez On Me is wishy washy, Hollywood and lackluster to say the least. With massive social media backlash of inaccuracy and dramatization of events within the movie, it brings a real sense of sadness and disappointment to the film.
Vince staples had an amazing comment that was ' in order for a biographical film to succeed the person needs to be alive'. The example of Notorious was given in comparison to the likes of Ray and Ali, which both were well produced films and treated the legacy of the figures involved with honor and respect.
The film lacks drama and emotion throughout and is a bitter disappointment as the story and cultural influence Tupac had is above and beyond what the story of All Eyez on Me produced.
