Review of All Eyez on Me (2017) by V S — 19 Jul 2017
All Eyez on Me feels like a 2 hour long music video and with Benny Boom directing that makes a lot of sense. Every scene in the first hour and a half all last for no longer than about 30 seconds, and the amount of times that a naked woman is shown on screen is uncomfortable.
I shouldn't have to look away during a movie, that's the last thing you want an audience member to do. The actors give it their all but they aren't working with that much script wise. Finally I must say that I was really looking forward to this movie after seeing Straight Outta Compton (2015), in hindsight though I would've passed on this one.
Others will like it and that's fine, a lot of people who will watch this grew up or lived in the Tupac era so I understand people who say that it is nostalgic and that they like the movie. I just think that this could've been better, maybe if they hired a director who's made a movie instead of one who's famous for directing Nicki Minaj music videos.
Final note: When real Tupac footage was shown on screen it was always a sight for sore eyes.
