Review of All About Lily Chou-Chou (2001) by Ivan B — 22 Jun 2007

I always seem to come back to this film, and it continues to be one of my favorite asian films.

It is so beautifully shot, such as the scene on the cover of the dvd. It is also uncompromisingly brutal and intertwines real relationships in a living internet drama (which the story was written as a real collaborative online project).

This film still has a loyal online following imitating the messageboard depicted in the film. To me, it does such a magnificent job of depicting alienation and the subcultural idols created to replace friendships.
