Review of All About Lily Chou-Chou (2001) by Emily O — 01 Feb 2008
A Japanese version of 'the kids' by Larry Clark. Some very disturbing images and acts of 'destroying something beautiful'. Except it's a big mystery of a movie. Some people may be very puzzled to even know what it's about, as well as being made very emotionally exhausted and aware.
The film time is a bit lengthy.
You can you like about the film, but whether you like it or not it's something that will provoke you to talk about it.
Beautiful imagery and soundtrack.
I think the film holds lots of mystery and in some cases too much. It's a very character based film, focusing on teenagers, growth and even tho the characters are so different music is the only thing that connects them.
Lilly chou chou(fictional 'bjork type' singer/ rock artist) holds a lot of mystery and the kids on their internet forums an messaging software, spend the entire film trying to figure it out.
