Review of All About Lily Chou-Chou (2001) by Glenn B — 24 Dec 2008
The complete opposite of April Story where that movie exuded a sense of sheer youthful wistfulness, innocence and purity. This film just showed how corrupted youth really is amid their own insecurities and confusion and their use of pop culture to make sense of their angst.
I love the way Shunji Iwai is able to internalize their pain to make it that much more personal. He is a great filmaker that makes beautiful, beautiful films!
