Review of All About Eve (1950) by Samuel H — 26 Feb 2015
Secret recipe to a good drama film is to focus it's plot around the most obscure subject, the rest is pure talent.
I am not saying the theater is an obscure or boring art form. A fan meeting there idol and what would follow is an really 'obscure' idea, another word for obscure could be original, or maybe not, maybe just obscure. This film doesn't need a critic this film already has one; a parody of one I thought. I mean who better to narrate or tell the story the people who make or break movies with word, word that are sometimes nice and othen venomous, it doesn't matter who tells the story really.
Contrary to popular believe this film is not all about Eve, hehe. A aging actor who has long since losted the love for her art-form, is slowly falling from her own grace. She feels she is losing youth, she takes out the aggression of whats happening on her biggest fan, or is she?!
A classic drama film, or so I hear. If your an action film person (that's the educational term), this film will bore the shit out of you. I am divided between the two. I can watch anything, this film kept me interested and is definitely great, especially in the eyes of drama fans. I watched it, felt bored near the end, but I have an exstreamly short attention span. I just don't know, my views are that of horror fan, or maybe even a art-house fan to. No doubt this film is great and many will enjoy, but not my type of film, I say that a lot when I don't like a good film.
