Review of Alita: Battle Angel (2019) by Jeffmynameis — 12 Mar 2019

This was a great adaptation, stayed true to the original, and I really enjoyed it. My wife was unfamiliar with the source and liked it too. I'm looking forward to a sequel. They managed to introduce a cyberpunk dystopia with it's own unique lore without really sitting down with boring exposition and without ripping off anyone.

There's good character development, some of it rather unexpected. The movie deals with a lot of trans-humanist issues without ever really hitting you over the head with it. Overall it was the best movie I've seen in a while, worth the big screen I think.
