Review of Aliens (1986) by Andres O — 17 Jul 2016
Aliens is one of the best science fiction movies of all time. It is also one of the most entertaining films of all time. It is a spectacular ride through a terrifying and unknown world of chills, excitement and surprises at every turn.
Clocking in at almost two and a half hours, the film enthralls from start to finish. The setting aids the action-horror tone, and the special effects are far ahead of their time. The tension rapidly builds and the viewer is held in motionless expectation.
It's much like watching a colossal pressure cooker waiting for it to blow. And when you feel that the cooker can't take the pressure any more, it bursts into magnificent action, a juggernaut of bullets, monsters, flames, screams, explosions and more monsters.
Very few times is the climax of a film so expertly built up and played out as it is with Aliens. This is a milestone in great cinema. Above and beyond all other films about extraterrestrial beings.
