Review of Alien Resurrection (1997) by Harry W — 23 Nov 2013

Alien Resurrection gives me mixed feelings.

I liked the film. It was way better than Alien 3 and it had such great actors as Ron Perlman and Winona Ryder as well as Sigourney Weaver once again returning to kick ass. The fact that she now has alien blood is also a cool addition to the story. Since I was disappointed with Alien 3, I was happy the film was a comeback for the series.

However, there are several problems. For one thing, the Alien movie series is just supposed to be a trilogy and the adding in the fourth film was unnecessary and seemed just like a moneymaking scheme. Also, the fact that once again people ACTUALLY think that they can control the alien that has plagued Ripley's life for so long is overused and annoying. By this point the Alien series has jumped the shark and should have ended, but Alien Resurrection is still superior to its poor quality predecessor due to its talented cast, decent technicals and direction from Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
