Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Dharma — 31 May 2017
Ridley Scott's latest stab in the ALIEN franchise is definetelly a mixed bag, albeit a well directed one. On one hand, it tries to tie all the plot threads from PROMETHEUS, while presenting an approximation of the original ALIEN.
Scientist characters in here continue to behave in a careless manner, resulting to their deaths. On the other hand, we can still see the master at work: great cinematography, some great set pieces and gorgeous visuals.
This installment reminds me a lot of JURASSIC PARK: THE LOST WORLD. Both are sequels pressured to perform, both have strange tonal inconsistencies despite being well acted.
