Fantastic acting, but AWEFUL directing. Will Smith did a sensational job of transforming himself into the legendary boxer, Ali. However, more than half of the scenes were drawn out with long slow musical selections. If this film has a soundtrack, it would be a good set of lullabies, assuming they can fit them all onto one CD.
If the movie would have focused on Ali's fighting career more than his religious/political career it could have been closer to 3 hours than 3 and would have been more entertaining.
