Review of The Invention of Lying (2009) by Owen J — 27 Aug 2014

A brilliant idea set up brilliantly and then almost completely wasted on a stupid, ugly, generic, sexually regressive romantic comedy. I like Ricky Gervais, but he really should not have been directing or in the lead role, he's completely wrong for both jobs.

A more charismatic character actor in the lead and somebody who knows what to do with a camera would have been nice. (And another draft of the screenplay.) But, it did make me laugh quite a bit, so it wasn't a horrible experience.
