Review of Alexander (1996) by The Critic ( — 01 Apr 2012
This epic tale of Alexander the Great might be aesthetically astonishing but, running for almost three hours, is otherwise vacant. Angelina Jolie is typically fine and Collin Farrell is good in the title role, but the pair simply don't convince as mother and son.
The most appealing and redeeming element here is the storyline involving Farrell and the excellent Jared Leto; their brotherly/homoerotic relationship is the highlight of an otherwise uninspired script.
